Big Coffee Trends from World of Coffee San Diego (Terranova’s Take)

World of Coffee San Diego delivered—and the Terranova Coffee Co. team had a front-row seat to the biggest trends in specialty coffee. From next-level cold brew innovation to the unstoppable growth of matcha and evolving global sourcing.

We came back energized (and highly caffeinated) with a few big takeaways shaping the future of coffee.

Cold brew is growing fast. From new brewing methods to more efficient production techniques, innovation is everywhere—and we’re excited about what that means for scaling high-quality cold brew.

Matcha is unstoppable. Demand keeps rising, and we connected with strong local sourcing options to bring better matcha to our café partners. Don’t be surprised if Terranova Matcha shows up on our site soon. Consider that your spoiler alert.

Coffee is community. The passion was everywhere—people sharing ideas, techniques, and what they love most about the craft. That energy is what drives this industry forward.

We also explored incredible coffees from around the world, including Indonesia, Honduras, and standout Hawaiian-grown coffees from the U.S.—a reminder of how diverse and exciting origin can be.

One highlight: stopping by the Probat booth and mentioning we’re still roasting on a 75-year-old Probat G90. Safe to say, they were impressed.

And we entered the 2026 Coffee Design Awards in the Branding & Packaging categories and found ourselves on display with some of the best brands in the business. While we didn’t take home the win, we definitely stood out. Our bold green and custom illustration had people stopping to take a look.
